On the vast Midwestern horizon, small towns announce themselves quietly but unmistakably. First come the bulky grain elevators, rising skyward, followed by slender church spires pointing heavenward. These prairie landmarks anchor the town in an endless sea of fields and grassland—without them, the settlement would dissolve into the surrounding expanse
